Leadership Team

Revd Dr Steve Green - Vicar

Following a short spell in the army and then selling typewriters, Steve has spent most of his life in education.  He had been the head teacher of two schools before becoming an Ofsted inspector and then director of education.  He felt called to be ordained in the Church of England in 2018 and did his theological training in Guildford.  Steve was a curate at St Mary's in West Horsley before being installed as vicar of St James in April 2024.  Apart from his family, Steve loves all sports although he doesn't profess to be particularly good at any of them.  He supports Plymouth Argyle which keeps him humble. He also likes motorcyles.  His passion is for everyone in the parish to come to know Jesus.

Tony has lived within 6 miles of Rowledge for his whole life and now lives in the village with his wife, Liz. Having worshipped at St James’ for over 35 years, he is part of the furniture! Currently a member of the PCC, Sub-Warden and licenced occasional preacher, and previously a Churchwarden, Tony is passionate about the church being seen as the centre of village life.  He is the director of marketing & communications at a local hospice care charity, Phyllis Tuckwell, and, when not working, enjoys golf and gardening but (according to his wife!) also spends far too much time playing at the local bowls club.
